As our lives get more and more concerned with the where as much as the how and when navigation aids have become a necessity. The location-aware smartphones most of us carry with us seem to have tapped into a need to know not just where we are but what’s of interest around us. Semper, a leading brand of baby food, has brought this to a new group of smartphone owners – parents.
Thanks to the brand new app (currently only available in the Swedish App Store), developed by More Mobile Relations, parents with children exploring a city can find locations that are of interest. The app lets you find museums, cafés, restaurants and other places of interest as well as stores that sell Semper products. With the flick of your finger the app shows you locations close to your current position on a map.
You can also add your own locations, with description, address and a snapshot from your iPhone’s camera. If you like, or dislike a place, you can also rate it. Favorites are also supported – handy if you want to return to that cozy café that serves great hot chocolate. The app also gives you access to special offers from Semper.
All of this is made possible thanks to the powers of Drupal and the Services module. Working behind the attractive user interface and polished graphics of the iPhone app is a Drupal-powered server developed by NodeOne. Authentication, geographical proximity search, keyword search, tagging, bookmarking and geocoding is all done with Drupal.
Since all content is stored, modified and accessed using Drupal, adding a web-based interface on top is a breeze should it be needed. Integrating your existing web-based Drupal site with an iPhone or Android app isn’t just doable – it’s easier than you think. Drupal has proven to be an extremely flexible and cost-effective platform for providing backends for mobile applications.

Is this an app that is available in the US iTunes store? I can’t seem to find it or get your link to work.
Oh now I see it says it is in the swedish app store.
Could you please give more details how did you build this app:
Authentication, search … . Did you develop in Obj-C ? Thanks
NodeOne did not build the app, it was done by More Mobile Relations (www.moremr.se). We implemented the API the app relies on as backend, user authentication, geo services and search using the Services module and the JSON-RPC server implementation.
I do not understand it, can you help me?
