Sony Ericsson wanted to create a community where app developers can test their ideas and apps on real users early in the process.
Sony Ericsson Labs is a testing ground for new technologies and ideas. Here anybody can download and test apps that are in an early state of development. Either out of curiosity, or contribute with feedback and influence the software of the future.
The site is in itself also a Labs project that evolves from the needs of the users.
The choice of Drupal
Sony Ericsson Labs is Sony Ericsson´s first site on Drupal. But most probably not the last. The reason behind trying a new system was the need for an extremely flexible, powerful and fast tool with a developer community behind it. "Practice what you preach" was what one wanted this site to breathe.
